A lot has happened since I wrote about starting my creative business journey – and I am excited about all of it! Heather Leigh, who is an author and a baby burrito collective member, got an Author Spotlight on Mymcbook’s blog! It’s the first time we have been involved in something like this so we are thrilled to be a part of it! There is also a giveaway attached to the Spotlight, so be sure to enter if you are interested in reading her book, Red Nectar! We also sent out a few books to be reviewed in the last couple of weeks, so things are looking good for us!
I was able to create two logos for Sweet Mariposa (my handmade/upcycled/vintage shop) last week, and I wanted to share them with you. I used a design I purchased from Kelly Jane Creative on Creative Market. I realized something last week, and it totally changed how I spend my time. I was spending hours upon hours trying to create these awesome vector images, when I’m still in the beginning stages of learning graphic design. So until I have more of a grasp, I’m going to support awesome people who make graphics and add my own little twist to it.
So, what do you think of the logos? I love them and think they will totally work with the style I have! I’m working on some new products that I will be putting up in the shop very, very soon. Now I need to work on making a little button for my blog. So if anyone has tips on making buttons that will appear on a WordPress.com hosted site, please fill me in!
This week, I’m finishing up my logo design I want for this blog…so you may see some new changes happening around here, but they will all be good changes, promise! I’m also still reading The Handmade Marketplace by Kari Chapin. I really dig into it when I do get to read it, so it’s all about carving time for me to do that.
I am so completely in love with my new friends at Oh My Handmade Goodness and I can’t wait to share some of their stories with you! Be on the watchout for more Meet the Maker and Yo Momma Monday profiles coming your way! And while I’m on that topic, don’t forget about the 15% off coupon for Wit and Whistle that Amanda Wright shared with her profile last week! It’s good for one more week! Just click on the link above and get the code from the post. I’m going to get one of her notebooks for all of my business planning, etc.
After giving it some thought, I have decided to make some changes with baby burrito collective. I want it to be so much more, and I know that if I really work at it and believe in it, I can make those changes. I will keep you updated with how that is going and may even ask for some advice!
Finally, I got accepted as a Food Contributor for Today’s Mama! I haven’t started yet, but they want at least one food article per week, which will allow me to experiment with recipes more and dabble into food blogging a little bit more, too. I need to think of what spin I want to take on it, but I can guarantee it will be a lot of fun! I want to get more involved with food blogging so this will be perfect!
Connect with me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest for more inspiration and updates on my creative business journey. If you would like to join the journey, let me know and hold each other accountable and have a friend in this! I know it can be crazy, and sometimes you just need a person to talk to, who is going through the same thing. If you have some advice and would like to write a guest post on this matter, or you feel you would be a good fit for Meet the Maker, post in the comments or connect with me on any of the social media outlets mentioned above! Just remember… today is yesterday’s tomorrow. I got that from Spongebob.
